Distribution: USA: SD, KS, OK, AR, TZ (Poole 1996).
Description/
Field Marks:
Forewing length: 13-15 mm with st. line tending to be scalloped at the apex. Flies April-July.
Similar Species:
  • Cirrhophanus triangulifer Grote, 1872 is larger (forewing length: 16-19 mm) with st. line tending to be continuos, not scalloped, at the apex. On the wing later in the season (August and September).
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy:
  • pretiosa (Morrison, 1875) (Chariclea); TL: Leavenworth, KS.
  • Taxonomic Notes: Cirrhophanus pretiosa: Elevated from synonymy of 9766 - Cirrhophanus triangulifer.
