Distribution: Caution: A single range map dot for a Canadian province may represent records without specific location data.
P. f. furcilla: Across Canada south to northern range of P. f. australis.
P. f. australis: KY, SC and GA southward to Gulf States and westward to eastern TX.
Type locality: Massachusetts.
Seasonality
and Size:
Year round in southern US. June-July in boreal Canada. Wingspan: ssp australis - male ~ 36-44 mm; female ~ 48-50 mm.
Larva and
Host Plants:
Larch, pine, spruce, and probably other conifers.
Similar Species:
