Type locality: Tallahassee, Florida.
Similar Species: In southern Texas, 9675.1 Elaphria hypophaea has forewing orbicular and reniform spots obscure and not filled with dark scales as in 9675 E. fusimacula, Jim Troubridge (pers. comm., 21/11/2018)
Taxonomic Notes: Elaphria fuscimacula (Grote, 1881) is a complex of three species, ZooKeys, 788: 248.
