Distribution: British Columbia south into Mexico Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Populus Salix.  Host genera: Populus Salix.  Host extended: Populus, Salix.  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: 930028 Furcula scolopendrina: larvae tend to have a saddle with a smooth posterior edge, not constricted on A6 and A8 as in typical cinereoides but this difference may not be diagnostic. Separation by visible larval characteristics is not certain. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: cinereoides (Dyar, 1890) (Cerura) - MONA 1983: [NEW] paradoxa (Behr, 1885) (Cerura) paradoxa (Dyar, 1892) (Cerura) placida (Dyar, 1892) (Cerura) Taxonomic Notes: Furcula cinereoides (Dyar, 1890), described as a variety of 7937 Furcula cinerea (Walker, 1865), is elevated to full species status, MONA Fascicle 22.1A: 110.
