Description/ Field Marks: See Wilkinson & Scoble, (1979) (bifasciella). Genitalia: See Wilkinson & Scoble, (1979) (bifasciella). Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: prunifoliella (Clemens, [1862]) (Nepticula) - MONA 1983: 0070   Type locality: Pennsylvania. bifasciella (Clemens, 1862) (Nepticula)   Type locality: Pennsylvania. serotinaeella (Chambers, 1873) (Nepticula)   Type locality: Kentucky. Taxonomic Notes: Stigmella prunifoliella (Clemens, [1862]), rev. stat., n. comb. (Newton & Wilkinson 1982:385-387), was previously treated as a nomen nudurn (invalid description) in Braun (1917:171). Newton & Wilkinson designated the holotype of bifasciella Clemens as the neotype of prunifoliella.
