Synonymy: wauaria (Linnaeus, 1758) (Phalaena)  fuscaria (Thunberg, 1792) (Phalaena) (synonym of ssp. wauaria)  v-nigraria (Haworth, 1809) (Geometra) (synonym of ssp. wauaria) Taxonomic Notes: Macaria wauaria (Linnaeus, 1758) is recognized among the North American fauna north of Mexico (E. Canada, NE USA). It was transferred to the genus Speranza in Ferguson (2008) a name treated as a synonym of Macaria in Sihvonen & Skou (2015) following Scoble & Krüger (2002).
