Synonymy: bitactata Walker 1862 (Thera) - MONA 1983: 6304 atrosignata Walker 1862 (Heterophleps) epigenata Barnes & McDunnough 1917 (Itame) packardaria Möschler 1883 (Halia) Taxonomic Notes: Macaria bitactata (Walker, 1862), formerly placed in the genus Itame in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist) and in the genus Speranza in Ferguson (2008), is returned to genus Macaria in Sihvonen & Skou (2015) following Scoble & Krüger (2002).
