Synonymy:
  • pygmaeus Walsingham, 1880 (Trichoptilus) - MONA 1983: 6101; TL: "near Millville, in Shasta County, California"
  • Distribution: Canada: BC; USA: WA, OR, CA, FL.
    Host Plants: "... the confirmed host [western NA] is Ceanothus papillosus. Gates Clarke collected pupae on Arctostaphylos in British Columbia...maybe it is a flower feeder on both..." (Deborah L. Matthews, in litt., 9July2026). (Note: papillosus is not known north of the San Francisco Bay Area.) In Florida the larval host is Chrysopsis scabrella Torr. & Gray (rough-leaf golden aster) [Asteraceae] (Matthews et al. 1990).

    Shropshire & Tallamy (2025) [accessed 6xii2025]: Host familiy: Asteraceae Ericaceae Rhamnaceae.  Host genera: Arctostaphylos Ceanothus Chrysopsis.  Notes: Chrysopsis host plant for "closely related FL species" (Powell & Opler 2009).
