Synonymy: mystic (Edwards, 1863) (Hesperia) - MONA 1983: 4043  mystic (Scudder, 1863) (Hesperia) ssp. a. mystic (Edwards, 1863) (Hesperia) - MONA 1983: 4043  nubs (Scudder, 1889) (Thymelicus) (synonym of ssp. mystic)  weetamoo (Scudder, 1889) (Thymelicus) (synonym of ssp. mystic) ssp. b. dacotah (Edwards, 1871) (Hesperia)  pallida (Skinner, 1911) (Pamphila) (synonym of ssp. dacotah) Taxonomic Notes: Polites mystic (Edwards, 1863) is placed in the genus Limochores, rev. stat. (Zhang et al. 2019). Pelham (2022), Cat. Butterflies US and Can. [revised 2 February 2022] retains Limochores as a subgenus and is followed herein.
