(synonym of ssp. okeechobee) Taxonomic Notes: Phocides batabano (Lucas, 1857), formerly treated as a synonym of batabano Lucas, 1857, is treated as a full species in Zhang et al. (2020) with okeechobee Worthington, 1881 as a subspecies. "True" batabano is extralimital north of Mexico.
