Distribution: Canada: BC to QC (note: records from eastern BC east to QC may refer to albidorsana); USA: WA south to southern CA. Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: columbia Kearfott 1904 (Proteopteryx); Type locality: Wellington, BC albidorsana Kearfott 1904 (Proteopteryx); Type locality: Kaslo, BC crenana of authors not Hübner [1817] (Tortrix) mediostriana Kearfott 1904 (Proteopteryx); Type locality: Wellington, BC Taxonomic Notes: Epinotia columbia (Kearfott, 1904) is elevated from synonymy of Epinotia crenana [3324] (extralimital) in R. L. Brown's unpublished Master’s thesis with new status formalized in Brown (2005). This species is represented at BOLD by two BINs, BOLD:AAF0407, likely "true" crenana, and BOLD:AAE1754, likely an undescribed cryptic species (Gilligan et al. 2020); the latter possibly refers to albidorsana Kearfott, originally described as a variety of columbia  (M. Sabourin, pers. comm., 2023). Compare lectotypes of in references.
