Field Marks:
Olethreutes n. sp. nr. auricapitana, a birch feeding species, is similar to O. auricapitana but with less orange scaling on the primaries and may have costal striae with white scales at the costal margin and antemedial dorsal striae approaching that of 2831 P. agilana.

  • 2830 Olethreutes auricapitana.
  • 2831 Pristerognatha agilana.
  • 2832 Olethreutes albiciliana.

Synonymy:
  • nr. auricapitana
  • Taxonomic Notes: Olethreutes nr. auricapitana is an apparently undescribed birch feeding species similar to 2830 Olethreutes auricapitana (Walsingham, 1879), a fern feeding species, from which it is narrowly separated by DNA barcode, Sabourin & Hunt, (pers. comm., 7/2020).
