Distribution: Canada: BC. Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Betulaceae Elaeagnaceae Olaceae Rosaceae.  Host genera: Alnus Betula Cratageaus Cydonia Eriobotrya Hippophae Malus Mespilus Prunus Pyrus Sorbus Syringa.  Notes: in trunk (Echlin & Duckworth 1988); wood-borer (Klem & Zaspel 2019).  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: myopaeformis (Borkhausen, 1789) (Sphinx) - MONA 1983: [NEW] armeniaca Gorbunov, 1991 (Synanthedon) cruentata (Mann, 1859) (Sesia) elegans (Lederer, 1861) (Sesia) graeca (Staudinger, 1870) (Sesia) luctuosa (Lederer, 1853) (Sesia) mutillaeformis (Laspeyres, 1801) (Sesia) typhiaeformis (Borkhausen, 1789) (Sphinx) zonata (Donovan, 1797) (Sphinx) Taxonomic Notes: Synanthedon myopaeformis (Borkhausen, 1789) is now recognized within the North American fauna north of Mexico, first discovered in British Columbia in the Cawston area in 2005, Pohl et al. (2015).
