Taxonomic Notes: Polites praeceps (Scudder, 1872), rev. stat. in Zhang et al. (2022), was formerly treated as a subspecies of 4045 Polites vibex (Geyer, 1832). Zhang et al. (2022) placed praeceps in the genus Hedone, rev. stat. (Zhang et al. 2019). Pelham (2022), Cat. Butterflies US and Can. [revised 2 February 2022] retains Hedone as a subgenus and is followed herein.
