holotype (castorana), CNCLEP00019835-TOR1648, Noregg, AB, 7July1921, J. McDunnough, leg.

Castorana (McDunnough, 1922) is treated as a synonym of Phiaris bipunctana in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023) but it apparently lacks the several cornuti in the phallus of that species and differs in the shape of the valval neck and cucullus.
