Distribution: Caution: A single range map dot for a Canadian province may represent records without specific location data. Similar Species: Parabagrotis formalis has a black thoracic collar not found in Parabagrotis insularis [11047.2]. Both species have a multitude of forms. Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: • Agrotis formalis Grote, 1874 • Agrotis binominalis Smith, 1888 • Triphaena faculoides Strand, 1916 • Agrotis morrisonistigma Grote, 1876 • Agrotis observabilis Grote, 1875 Taxonomic Notes: Parabagrotis formalis: Elevated from synonymy of 11047 - Parabagrotis exertistigma. Formerly placed in the genus Rhynchagrotis.
