Distribution: NS west to southeastern SK, Canada, south to FL and west to eastern WY and eastern TX, USA.
Similar Species:
  • 9249.1 Acronicta cryptica. Melanistic specimens of A. increta cannot be separated with confidence and require DNA.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy:
  • increta (Morrison, 1875) (Acronycta) - MONA 1983: 9249
      Type locality: Brooklyn, NY.
  • inclara (Smith, 1900) (Acronycta)
  • inconstans (Smith, 1911) (Acronycta)
  • Taxonomic Notes: Acronicta increta (Morrison, 1875) includes as a synonym [9250] Acronicta inclara (Smith, 1900) in Schmidt & Anweiler (2020), MONA Fascicle 25.4: 149.
