Similar Species: Dioryctria abietivorella (Grote, 1878) has a gray-white band before the black a.m. line of the forewing vs. mostly black in lindsleyi, but is best separated by genitalia. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: lindsleyi Heppner 2023 (Pinipestis); Type locality: Holotype: California: La Jolla (Sumner Cyn.) (ca. 60m), San Diego Co Taxonomic Notes: Dioryctria lindsleyi Heppner, 2023, n. sp.
