Aristotelia corallina complex includes four clades from the US, Costa Rica, and Puerto Rico represented at BOLD by BINs: AAH5498, AAT9249, AAA8061, and AAA8062. We tentatively recognize two more BINs: AAH4809 and AEH1853. A. corallina, previously recognized within the North American fauna north of Mexico in Kimball (1965) and Lee et al. (2009), is treated as unverified by Lee & Landry (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023). Specimens from north of Mexico identified as "corallina" in many collections and at BOLD appear to represent several cryptic species; it is unclear which, if any, refer to "true" corallina (Baer 2018). |
