Distribution: Type locality (diana): [Germany?].
Type locality (decorana): Dalecarlia, Finland.
Type locality (luridana): "St[a]. Martin's Falls", Albany R., [Ontario], Canada.
Type locality (vicarialis): "Maine or Mass." - syn. of C. d. luridana (Walker).
Type locality (va. betuliperda): Platt Cyn., Denver, Colorado.
Larva and
Host Plants:
Alnus and Betula species. Past report for other hostplants are apparently to be unsupported.
Description/
Field Marks:
Color variation may be hostplant derived. See Heppner (2024).

Taxonomic Notes: Choreutis diana (Hübner, [1822]) is a Holarctic species represented in North America by Choreutis diana luridana (Walker, 1863), new stat. (Heppner 2024). This subspecies includes as a synonym Choreutis betuliperda (Dyar, 1902), a name originally described as a variety of diana, in Heppner (2024).
