Larva and

Sweet fern (Comptonia peregrina).
Similar Species:
  • All identifications in the genus Parornix should be considered tentative including those that were dissected or DNA barcoded. An unpublished work by Don Davis includes illustrations of genitalia, presumably based on type specimens, for all species. Using that as a guide reveals that many past descriptions and keys cannot be applied with confidence.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy:
  • peregrinaella (Darlington, 1949) (Callisto) - MONA 1983: 0679 TL: New Lisbon, NJ.

    • Barcode of Life (BOLD) - Caution: DNA barcode provides evidence of relatedness, not proof of identification, and some BOLD specimens shown may not be sequenced.
