Distribution: Primarily east of the Rockies and west of the Mississippi; ND and MN south to TX with roecords in MI and IL.
Type locality: Colorado.
Similar Species:
  • 9214 A. falcula, 9215 A. parallela and some populations of 9218 A. mansueta may not be separated by observable characteristics.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy: Apatela parallela Grote, 1879
Taxonomic Notes: Acronicta parallela (Grote, 1879), previously synonymized with 9214 Acronicta falcula in Lafontaine & Schmidt (2010), ZooKeys, 40: 136, is elevated back to full species status, Zookeys, 149: 153.
