Distribution: USA: Alaska. Similar Species: Plusia putnami Grote, 1873 has a subapical pale spot which does not cross the pm. line. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: festucae (Linnaeus, 1758) (Phalaena) - MONA 1983: [NEW since Pohl & Nanz (eds.) (2023)] Taxonomic Notes: Phalaena festucae Linnaeus, 1758 is provisionally recognized within the North American fauna based on a DNA barcoded specimen collected 6Aug2024, Fairbanks, AK, by Jason Grant; morphology-based ID is still pending.
