Distribution: USA: Alaska. Similar Species: Plusia putnami Grote, 1873 has a subapical pale spot which does not cross the pm. line. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: festucae (Linnaeus, 1758) (Phalaena) Taxonomic Notes: Phalaena festucae Linnaeus, 1758 is provisionally recognized within the North American fauna based on a DNA barcoded specimen collected in Fairbanks, AK by Jason Grant; morphology-based ID is still pending.
