Distribution: NC south to MS and FL. MPG mapping is inaccurate especially from FL and west of MS with most referring to H. floccalis.
Description/
Field Marks:
FW length 12–14 mm.
Similar Species:
  • 8467.1 Hemeroplanis floccalis is smaller and best separated by genitalia or DNA barcode.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)

      Type locality: “England” (in error for the southeastern United States; Poole 1989).
