Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Asteraceae Caryophyllaceae Plantaginaceae Polygonaceae.  Host genera: Polygonum[unresolved] Plantago Stellaria Taraxacum.  Notes: various low herbaceous plants (Powell & Opler 2009); general herbaceous vegetation, particularly Caryophyllaceae & Polygonaceae (Crabo et al 2014).  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: permaculata (Packard, 1872) (Leucarctia) - MONA 1983: 8144 caeca (Strecker, 1884) (Ecpantheria) reducta (Grote, 1877) (Ecpantheria) Taxonomic Notes: Hypsocompe permaculata (Packard, 1872), n. comb. (Laguerre 2023), was formerly in the genus Hypercompe.
