Distribution: USA: Hidalgo and Cameron Co., TX - Miller et al. (2021)
Holotype (mandela): Presidio, Mexico.
Holotype (santaana): Santa Ana Refuge, Hidalgo Co., TX.

Elasmia mandela santaana Metzler & Knudson, 2011
Taxonomic Notes: Elasmia mandela (Druce, 1887) is now recognized within the North American fauna. The nominate race occurs south of the U.S. while E. m. santaana Metzler & Knudson 2011, n. subsp., Zookeys, 149: 60-64, is found in the southern tip of Texas.
