Synonymy: torva (Hübner, 1803) (Bombyx) musculus (Kiriakoff, 1963) (Peridea) nigra Wu & Fang, 2003 (Notodonta) simplaria Graef, 1881 (Notodonta) Taxonomic Notes: Notodonta torva: Previously treated as Notodonta simplaria (Graef, 1881), now viewed as a North American form of a Holarctic species.
