Distribution: Canada: NS to southern ON; USA: ME to central TX and northern FL (Miller et al. (2018).
Larva and
Host Plants:
Various species in Ericaceae (heath family), especially Vaccinium (blueberries), and apparently Hamamelis (witchhazel); many other hosts reported. See Miller et al. (2018).
Similar Species:
  • Datana major Grote & Robinson, 1866 is best separated by genitalia or larva if reared.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
