  • Taxonomic Notes: Aellopos tantalus (Linnaeus, 1758) is represented in North America north of Mexico by the Caribbean subspecies A. t. zonata (Drury, 1773) and not the South American subspecies A. t. tantalus as was inadvertently listed by St Laurent & Kitching (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023) (Ian Kitching, in litt., 18Jan2026).
