SYN.   Type locality: Arizona, Santa Cruz Co., Pen?a Bianca. hyatti Eitschberger, 2002 (Paonias) mccrearyi (Clark, 1929) (Calasymbolus) occidentalis (Clark, 1919) (Calasymbolus) oplerorum Eitschberger, 2002 (Paonias) rosacearum (Boisduval, [1836]) (Smerinthus) sorbi (Boisduval, [1875]) (Smerinthus) tiliastri (Boisduval, [1875]) (Smerinthus) Taxonomic Notes: Paonias myops (Smith, 1797) includes as a synonyms Paonias hyatti Eitschberger, 2002 and Paonias oplerorum Eitschberger, 2002 and as a subspecies Paonias macrops (Gehlen, 1933) with Paonias emmeli Eitschberger, 2002 as a synonym of macrops in Kitching et al. (2018). P. macrops is returned to full species by St Laurent & Kitching (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023).
