Synonymy: hesselorum Ferguson, 1972 (Automeris) iris of authors; (not Walker, 1865) (Hyperchiria) misappl. Taxonomic Notes: Automeris hesselorum Ferguson, 1972, described as a subspecies of [7747] Automeris iris (Walker, 1865), is raised to full species status in Brechlin & Meister (2011), Entomo-Satsphingia, 4(1): 30. Automeris iris is extralimital.
