Taxonomic Notes: Hemileuca peigleri listed as a valid species by St Laurent in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) (2023) following Kitching & Rougerie et al. (2018), was formerly treated as a subspecies of Hemileuca maia (Drury, 1773), Tuskes et al. (1996).
