Distribution: Throughout eastern US and Canada; possibly replaced by Hydrelia brunneifasciata west of the Rockies (Forbes 1948:156). Similar Species: Lobocleta peralbata has forewing with coastal and outer margins straighter, basal line always obsolete, outer line unbroken. Stippling, rarely present in H. albifera, is often present on all wings. White or yellowish ground color is opaque, not translucent as in H. albifera. Hind wings are less elongated. Hydrelia brunneifasciata (Packard, 1876) Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
