Similar Species:

Synonymy:
  • punctipes (Curtis, 1835) (Oporabia); TL: "not stated, probably the Boothia Peninsula [NT]; neotype male: Spence Bay, Boothia Peninsula [NT]" (Troubridge 1997).
  • brullei (Lefèbvre, 1836) (Larentia); TL: "du pays des Eskimau".
    Note: n. syn. (Troubridge 1997), was formerly treated as a subspecies of polata (Duponchel, 1830) by Ferguson (in Hodges et al. 1983).
  • brulleata (Duponchel, 1842) (Larentia) missp.
  • fumidotata (Walker, [1863]) (Larentia)
    Note: Formerly treated as a synonym of E. polata brullei by Ferguson (in Hodges et al. 1983) and subsequently as a synonym of punctipes in Troubridge (1997) who included brullei as a new synonym of punctipes. This treatment was overlooked in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) (2023) which erroneously retained fumidotata as a synonym of polata.

    Note: n. syn. (Troubridge 1997); lectotype designated by Troubridge (1997).
  • Taxonomic Notes: Oporabia punctipes Curtis, 1835, n. stat. (Troubridge 1997), was formerly treated as a subspecies of polata (Duponchel, 1830) by Ferguson (in Hodges et al. 1983).
