Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Betulaceae Ericaceae Fagaceae Oleaceae Pinaceae Rosaceae Salicaceae Ulmaceae.  Host genera: Abies Alnus Betula Corylus Fraxinus Larix Picea Pinus Populus Prunus Quercus Salix Ulmus Vaccinium.  Notes: polyphagous on trees & shrubs (Forbes 1948).  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: furcata (Thunberg, 1784) (Geometra) - MONA 1983: 7257 ssp. a. furcata (Thunberg, 1784) (Geometra); TL: Peggy's Cove, NS.  elutata (Hübner, 1799) (Geometra)  fuscoundata (Donovan, 1806) (Phalaena)  sordidata (Fabricius, 1794) (Phalaena) ssp. b. fergusoni McDunnough, 1954 (Hydriomena) Taxonomic Notes: Hydriomena furcata (Thunberg, 1784), a species described from Sweden, is represented in North America by the subspecies H. f. fergusoni McDunnough, 1954.
