Genitalia: See key in Forbes (1948:74). Valvae less elongate and setose patch on the inner face of the cucullus shorter and wider than in obtusaria Hübner.
Similar Species:
  • Euchlaena obtusaria (Hübner, [1813]) shows only slight genitalic differences and is not supported by DNA barcode as a separate species. Hugh McGuinness (in lit., 2023) suggests that obtusaria might just be a small form with the genitalic differences explained by allometry. Forbes, 1948:76) notes, "Hardly more than a race..."
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy: Endropia muzaria Walker, 1860
