Distribution: Type locality: Kentucky.
Larva and
Host Plants:
Erigeron (fleabane); originally described as a miner of Plantago virginica, an error subsequently corrected in Chambers (1877).
Similar Species:
  • Parectopa pennsylvaniella has a head which varies from white to brown, not brown with distinct white lines above eyes as in plantaginisella.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy: Gracillaria plantaginisella Chambers, 1872
