Description/
Field Marks:
Wing length: males, 10–12 mm; fe- males, 11–13 mm. Males have bipectinate antennae.
Similar Species:
  • Psamatodes atrimacularia (Barnes & McDunnough, 1913) males have simple antennae; females are best separated by dissection.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy:
  • pallidata (Warren, 1897) (Xenoecista)
  • trimaculata (Warren, 1906) (Macaria)
  • Taxonomic Notes: Psamatodes pallidata (Warren, 1897) includes as a synonym Macaria trimaculata (Warren, 1906).
