Macaria nervata Guenée, [1858] (described from Brazil) is included as unverified. The species, along with syn. M. tractata Walker, 1861 (described from "North America"), was mentioned by Ferguson (in Hodges et al. 1983:ix) (Checklist) as extralimital north of Mexico. Subsequently, these names were omitted from both Ferguson (2008) MONA and Schmidt & McGuinness (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023). Previously, Dyar, (1902) had listed nervata with syn. tractata as residing in Florida, and this treatment was apparently followed in checklists by Smith (1903:74), McDunnough (1938), etc. A recent photo from Texas similar to BOLD specimens of "nervata" from Central America was submitted to iNaturalist and is included here. |
