Distribution: Holotype: "USA, Colombie Britannique, Rutland Bay".
Paratypes: USA: MD, CO; Canada: Riding Mt. Natl. Park, MT, Dunnville, ON.
Similar Species:
  • Loxostege sticticalis, now considered extralimital to North America, is separated by appreciable differences in larval characteristics, noted by Munroe (1976), slight differences in wing pattern, genitalia and DNA.

Synonymy: Loxostege munroealis Leraut, 2005
Phalaena Pyralis sticticalis of authors not Linnaeus, 1761
Taxonomic Notes: Loxostege munroealis Leraut, 2005, n. sp., Nouv. Rev. Entomol., 22(2): 134, includes as a synonym [5004] Loxostege sticticalis of authors; (not Linnaeus, 1761). "True" L. sticticalis is a Eurasian species extralimital to North America.
