Taxonomic: Notes Anania fuscalis (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) is now recognized within the North American fauna, several specimens collected by Jim Vargo from Laporte Co., IN, 2025. GlobIZ lists several synonyms and subspecies; the specimens appears to refer to the nominate subspecies. Synonymy: fuscalis (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) (Pyralis) Note: n. comb. (Leraut 2005). deceptalis (La Harpe, 1864) (Botys) ssp. a. fuscalis (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) (Pyralis); TL: Austria, surrounding of Vienna [Wienergegend] Similar  : Species Pinned specimens of related species.
