Distribution: USA: southern TX north to Galveston.
Similar Species:
  • Norape cretata, reported as far south as Corpus Christi, TX, has white legs, not black as in N. virgo.
  • Norape sorpresa is found in Arizona; tarsi banded; gray shade of basal half of the ventral forewing costa, lacking in similar species.
  • Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)
Synonymy:
  • virgo (Butler, 1877) (Carama) - MONA 1983: 4649
      Type locality: ♂ Vera Cruz, Mexico; ♀ "New Grenada".
