Distribution: Introduced from Asia, this species has spread throughout eastern US and Canada.
Type locality (longella): North Hindostan, India.
Type locality (pavlovskii): former USSR.
Seasonality
and Size:
Animal hair and feathers, usually live in bird nests, Zool. J. Linn. Soc. 63(1): 10.
Genitalia: See Zool. J. Linn. Soc. 63(1): fig. 3c-d.
Similar Species:
  • 0418 Monopis monachella lacks a dark stain within large white patch on costal margin of forewing.

Monopis pseudagyrta Meyrick, 1919
Taxonomic Notes: Monopis longella (Walker, 1863), previously treated as a synonym of 0418 Monopis monachella (Hübner, 1796) in Meyrick (1894) and Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist), is now recognized as a full species and includes as a new synonym 0418.1 Monopis pavlovskii Zagulajev, 1955 in Huang et al. (2011), Zool. J. Linn. Soc. 63(1): 6.
