Taxonomic Notes: Eana osseana niveosana (Packard, 1866), listed as a full species in the Hodges 1983 Checklist and treated as the sole North American subspecies of E. osseana (Scopoli, 1763) in Pohl et al. (2018), awaits revision. "True" E. osseana is listed as extralimital (Palearctic) with "E. o. niveosana" likely referring to one of three cryptic species (two Nearctic and one Holarctic) in Gilligan et al. (2020), Insects, 11(9), 594: 1-59.
