Taxonomic Notes: |
Acleris maccana (Treitschke, 1835) includes as a synonym A. fishiana (Fernald, 1882) in McDunnough (1934:292). McDunnough (1940) subsequently returned fishiana to full species status. Obraztsov (1963) returned fishiana to synonymy of maccana. Based on differences in DNA barcode and reexamination of genitalia by Michael Sabourin, A. fishiana may prove to be a good species or subspecies with both taxa occuring in the North America. |
