Taxonomic Notes: |
Ancylis comptana of authors; (not Frölich, 1828) is a placeholder name in Gilligan & Brown (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023). "True" comptana is treated as extralimital to North America in (Gilligan et al. 2020). DNA data in BOLD clearly distinguishes the NA specimens identified as A. comptana as a separate taxon from those in Europe. A. conflexana is the senior available name for Nearctic specimens and it's usage is putative. Future study may determine if there is more than one species represented by the many NA synonyms for this taxon. (Michael Sabourin, pers. comm., 2023) |
