Taxonomic Notes: |
Crocidosema plebejana Zeller, 1847 is treated as one or more cryptic species with "true" C. plebejana listed as extralimital (Palearctic) in Gilligan et al. (2020). Synonyms of C. plebejana, of which C. excitana Moschler, 1891 (TL: Puerto Rico) might have priority, await revision. Pending further taxonomic work, plebejana is retained as a valid NA species by Gilligan & Brown (in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023). |
