Distribution: USA: NC south to FL and west to LA.

Similar Species:
  • Epiblema strenuana (Walker, 1863) with 3rd labial palpus segment concolorous with 2nd, not black as in E. aquilana, has a smaller and less bright forwing ocellus, and males lacks a coastal fold.

      Type locality: Holotype: North Carolina, Pender County, Holly Shelter Game Land.
  • Taxonomic Notes: Eucosma aquilana Wright & Gilligan, 2021, n. sp., though closest in most respects to 3172 Epiblema strenuana (Walker, 1863), is placed in genus Eucosma based on "sterigma-sternum 7 structure" and presence of male costal fold, Jour. Lepid. Soc., 75(2): 130; figs. 1-6, 16a-d.
