  • Endothenia quadrimaculana - "There is only one difference between our form [nubilana] and the European antiquana [quadrimaculana]: a few more short spines (8-12) on the inner side of uncus at apical margin. In the European specimens before me they number 4 to 6..." - Heinrich (1926).

Taxonomic Notes: Endothenia nubilana (Clemens, 1865), listed as a subspecies of E. quadrimaculana (Haworth, [1811]) in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist), was reinstated as a full species with E. quadrimaculana treated as extralimital (Palearctic) in Miller (1983), Great Lakes Entomologist, 16(1): 5-12.
